Established in 1953 by John E. Zitter, Sterling Plating and Supply Company provided various types of plating for ornamental and small industrial applications. Then in 1955, as the focus then shifted completely to industrial supplies, the name was changed to Sterling Supply Company. Behr Manning Abrasives was one of the first lines carried.
Mr. Zitter died in 1972 and his wife Regina "Jerry" Zitter successfully ran the business until her death at the age of 83 in the year 2000.
The company is now managed by the second generation: John Zitter as President and Bill Zitter as Vice President.
Sterling Supply Company specializes in abrasives and cutting tools, but also carries a wide range of items for the machining industry. Norton Company, which acquired Behr Manning many years ago, is our largest vendor. Our major carbide cutting tool manufacturer is Sandvik Coromant.
As Sterling Supply Company nears its 75th anniversary, we are blessed to have the finest and most knowledgeable employees we ever had. We look forward to serving our customers for the next 70 years and beyond.
